Juraj Kolnik – 500 AHL/NHL games – joins the GMB Panthers
Fourth round NHL draft pick Juraj Kolnik - born in Slovakia but raised in Canada – has signed for the GMB Nottingham Panthers.
The 34-year-old brings a wealth of talent and impressive resume with him to the Panthers. He played 250 times in the NHL at the New York Islanders and the Florida Panthers.
The Islanders’ pick was also on the ice 275 times in the AHL where he amassed 176 points with the likes of San Antonio, Bridgeport and Springfield and Lowell Lock.
A Slovakian international at junior and senior levels, he has played in Europe in leagues like the high-skilled Swiss Elite League. Last year he stayed in North America to be close to his family and recorded 64 points in 37 games at Laval Predateurs. He helped win a championship in Switzerland and had the most assists in a season there two years running and also the most points in a year.
Panthers’ head coach Corey Neilson said : “You can’t buy the kind of experience Juraj has on his resume, you have to earn it. On top of that he has a great shot, he can hang on to the puck and he can nail a pass, he is going to be another great addition to our squad, he ticks a lot of boxes for us.”
